It preserves, transforms, and commemorates. Where grain was once stored, culture and art, nature, and people now find a space to observe and marvel, to grow and reflect. Built around 1908 as a granary on the Hobrechtsfelde estate, the building shaped Berlin’s agricultural supply for decades.
After years of neglect, the granary was taken over, preserved, and revitalized in 2013 by the Förderverein Naturpark Barnim e. V. Today, the historic building connects the past and the present: a permanent display tells the story of the alluvial meadows and their history, while rotating programs bring culture and education together. The Speicher is not about stagnation, but about cycles—about what remains while everything else changes.
The Speicher is a historic building on the former Hobrechtsfelde model farm. The six-story granary is currently being renovated and transformed into a vibrant gathering place for art, culture, and environmental education.
This is where people from Hobrechtsfelde and the surrounding region will come together to create, learn, and experience new things. With studios, exhibition spaces, and an outdoor stage, the granary will become a venue for artistic projects, workshops, and dialogue—open to anyone who wants to get involved.
